Es ist soweit. Es kann losgehen. Über Island und mein dortiges Fotoprojekt habe ich vielen ja schon erzählt. Hier ist nun der erste große Schritt, mein Island-Foto-Buch in Angriff zu nehmen. Für eine erste Recherchereise, brauche ich Eure Hilfe. Es heißt nun Menschen treffen, Arbeits- und Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten (soll schließlich eine Langzeit-Fotodokumentation werden) finden und natürlich zu fotografieren. Diese Recherchereise soll Dank Crowdfunding auf die Beine gestellt werden. Also bitte ich Euch: Spendet und teilt diesen Post wo immer Ihr könnt.

Wer von Island fasziniert ist, wer die Natur liebt, wer sich für soziale Belange interessiert, dem sollte das Projekt am Herzen liegen. Nein, kein üblicher Landschaftsbildband. Der Mensch und die Auswirkungen seines Handels stehen im Mittelpunkt.

​

Konflikte, zwischen Geldgier und wirtschaftlicher Notwendigkeit, Zerstörung und Schutz der Natur, Aufbruchsstimmung bei den einen und Angst vor dem gesellschaftlichen Abseits bei den anderen, möchte ich mit dem Bildband "Reise-Effekte: Island" fotografisch dokumentieren und ein wunderschönes Land im Wandel zeigen: Landschaftsfotografie, bei der die Folgen des Massentourismus sichtbar werden, Stadtlandschaften im Umbruch, Reportagefotografien, die den konkreten menschlichen, gesellschaftlichen und sozialen Aspekt des Wandels Islands wiederspiegeln.

Mir liegt dieses Projekt sehr am Herzen, denn was dort gerade geschieht, dass kennen die Berliner aus den früher 90er Jahren. Mit allen guten und schlechten Seiten, solch eines Umbruchs. Es wird eine spannende Zeit für das kleine Land.

This is not a drill. It’s really happening. I’ve been talking a lot and to many people about Iceland and my photography project there. This now is the first big step towards making my Iceland photo collection a reality. I need your help for the initial research trip. It’s time to meet key people and identify job- and accommodation opportunities (the plan, after all, is a long-term photo documentary) and, of course, to take photos. This research trip will be financed thanks to a crowdfunding campaign. So here is my request: please donate and share this post wherever you can.

Anybody fascinated by Iceland, any nature lover, anybody interested in social aspects should care about this project. No, this won’t be your average landscape photo collection. Real People and the effects of their actions will be the focus of this collection.

​

My photo collection The Impact of Tourism on Iceland aims to document all of Iceland’s conflicts: between greed and economic necessity, destruction and conservation of nature, optimism and fear of social isolation, in photographs. Thus showing a beautiful country in transition: landscape photography that illustrates the effects of mass tourism, cityscape images of change, documentary photographs that reflect the specific human, societal and social aspect of changes in Iceland.

I care a great deal about this project because what’s happening in Iceland right now is a familiar story to Berliners who experienced the early 90s in Berlin. With all the positives and negatives such changes can bring. The small country lives in interesting times.
